SunLife Cycle Ph

It was another great cycling event here at the BGC area especially when you can ride your bike along closed routes inside the city. This is the annual Sunlife Cycle Ph organized by SunRise Events and Sponsored by SUNLIFE, it was an opportunity to let hundreds of cyclists enjoy the morning breeze while riding thru streets of BGC to Makati city! Even though other people might think that the registration price may have increased drastically over the years but still it proved to be a great race much to the expectation of the participants.

This event was attended by hundreds of cyclist including famous personalities as well.

SunPiology founder Piolo Pascual and triathlete Matteo Guidicelli, along with Iñigo Pascual, Yong Muhajil, Janus del Prado, Sarah Carlos, Kisses Delavin, Ysabel Ortega and Tommy Esguerra are also seeing action in the non-competitive event.

The 40km ride has a total of over 600 riders while the 20km and kids categories have drawn 392 and 100 participants, respectively. Gun start for the 40km ride is at 6 a.m. to be followed by the 20km ride at 6:20 a.m. and the kids ride at 8:30 a.m. Also on tap are the tricycle rides for kids at 9:45 a.m.

We joined the 20km route since we wanted to get the shirt so we can use it on weekdays rather than the jersey. For me, the route was good since it was changed this year, the organizers made sure that the 20km was worth what we paid for ...lolz. The route will start from SEDA, then take the Flyover going to Makati, make a u-turn around Ayala then go back to bgc then repeat. I like it this way compared to that of the previous route!

Big big thanks to Tannus tires for providing us with safe ride during the event. We felt lighter not having to carry around pumps & spare tires knowing that our Tannus will protect us from unwanted tire trouble.

And of course the grand finale! Though I was previously pissed off when the shirt sizing was totally different from last year's... I got a chance to be interviewed by ABS CBN (well, hope they do not cut the interview or at least give me my 30 seconds of fame :) lolz)

One thing's for sure, we will still be joining future cycling events held in the city & this race is highly recommended for sure. Is there any cycling race held in the city like this one? Comment below if you guys knew so I can check it out!
