Oh my Bugarin!!!

A very familiar word for every cyclist...one of the 7 most notorious climbs in Metro Manila, another mecca for Pinoy cyclist (as fellow blogger/cyclist/actor/politician www.roadiemanila.com would say) which needs to be conquered. Well what's on top of this climb? A group of 27 wind turbines rest atop; located in the humble barangay of Halayhayin in Pililla, to be more precise, the Rizal Wind Farm is the newest addition to the growing list of tourism hotspots within close proximity of the capital just 2 hours away.

Total distance from Hacienda Pisong kape is approximately 7kms going up the windfarm and this was my first time to do it! The route was actually simple as me and my partner will just do an out and back from Morong to Pililla then back to Morong just for the experience.

We parked at Aljen's Coffee Lounge which was located besides a Shell Gas station (Manila East Road, Brgy. Maybancal) along Morong Rizal and from there we started our ride going to Hacienda Pisong kape before going up.

From Aljen's to Pisong kape is an estimated 12kms of rolling semi-rough roads and it is recommended to ride here the earliest time in the morning else you will experience traffic.

At this point I was a little bit scared & excited since this was my first time doing this

From hacienda, at about approximately 300 meters you will reach the intersection going to Pililla and Jala-jala road, which you will need to turn left.

The long slow ascend begins...

This is the over looking deck meaning "buko" stops! Everyone stops here for a quick break before heading to the final ascent. This is the last stop.

Just a little bit more ...

Turn left once you reached this intersection. Be careful bringing your bikes in because the road is pretty much rocky. You might get tire punctures so better walk it. There is still approx 700m to the windmills.

Luckily for us, we use TANNUS AIRLESS tires so rocky roads --> NOT an issue :)

Finally reached the windmills... Mission accomplished! Doing the famous japanese pose - peace signs!

Can't stop doing the peace!

Overall the route was great and highly recommended for those who haven't been to this part of the country. This is also a good training ground as well with fast descents and challenging climbs! My take away from this experience is to take it slow going up and enjoy the cool breeze while being careful riding down.

My strava record...

Thanks to my tour guide @Sub_icar for accompanying me on this holiday ride and ticking one off my bucket list! Would I recommend this route? Hell yeah!

Finale, the DAB! Ride safe everyone!
