Quick long ride with my Tannus tires!

Today was the first day of our "Road to Audax" training & to kick off the start of this training, we headed to Nuvali, Sta Rosa for our initial long ride. Unfortunately, due to the gloomy and super rainy weather, not everyone was able to join in.

So there were we only a handful of idiots trying to do a long ride in the middle of the rainy season, but surprisingly it was cloudy at Sta Rosa as of yesterday morning. Meaning, the show must go on!

The route was supposedly to start at Petron Treats in Carmeltown but the security guards were strict this time not allowing our vehicle to enter and wanting us to go out of nuvali and take the other gate going into carmelray park (**Next time we know...) , so after wasting so much time finding parking space we ended up starting at Camp N.

Since having used the Tannus on my earlier rides, I'd expect my ride to be a little bit slow due to the surface resistance of the rubber material, but actually the tires performed really really well in flats, climb, slippery and rough roads and even good when braking. I didn't felt tired because of the heavy tires, I felt tired because of the strong headwind slamming towards you that made the ride even harder - double the effort to be exact.

I was also happy that the tires performed well during the downhill part of the ride and didn't skid off the grid as I was so afraid of it happening or did the rubber tire suddenly peeled off from the rim hehehehe!

Goofing around pics, we had to stop over fight the headwind going up to Miriam College:

Overall I was satisfied by the Tannus tires, didn't experience tiring arms but I did in fact add another layer of bar tape on to my drop bar since the tires have the tendency to produce vibration on the bars. There was an instance I felt my rear rims were out of balanced maybe due to the thickness of the rubber, but eventually after checking it was nothing. Plus having the thought of #Noflats made my ride even stress free!

Surprised at Strava on some of my results & even made some PRs eh:

6.8% Grade as our warm up!

It was not a good weather so we had to stop at 50kms. This is just the first of many long rides, hoping for more cooperative weather in the weeks to come... btw my only issue was saddle and not the tires.

Sharing some tips to clean your bike after a ride in the rains:

1. Cleaning the gunk off the bike

2. Clean the wheels & brakes

3. Dry the bike

4. Clean and Lube the drive train

5. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the frame

Keep safe everyone!
