Testing out the new Shou Tires

Here's the second part of my crusade to get into the "No Flats" movement... after that horrible stint with Tannus tires for my folding bike, I finally got to test another alternative which is this Shou Tires or also called NEDONG tires; their chinese counterpart.

** This type of tires are different with dual-layer holes on the side, not for aerodynamics but most probably for shock absorption

What's most surprising is that when you purchase this type of airless tires, a specialized fitted rims come with it. The 20" x 1-3/8" tires with rim cost only Php2,600.00 or close to $50.00! Fairly cheaper than Tannus and advertised to last for 5,000kms.
Here's an inside look on the shou tires, lots of printed numbers maybe to take note of manufacturing date or something

The seller was kind enough to deliver my order to makati w/o extra charge. Once it got 'em I went directly to TryOn Marketing (address at 477 Dr Jose P. Rizal Ave, Makati, Metro Manila) to have it installed.
It took a while to start installing the tires since the mechanic had to remove the hubs and spokes from the old rims first and it takes time. Once he is done, the next long wait starts at the wheel balancing which I almost fell asleep (lolz).

Fitting the tires into the rims again... btw, the internal rim width is approx 18.5mm - 19.5mm

Using a tool lever to push the other side of the tire to lock it to the riimset

Done with the adjustments

FINAL LOOK!

SUMMARY:
Initial test ride --> me likey! There was a bouncy feel to it and it felt like riding on normal pneumatic tires. It's light and breaks well in rough surfaces. I need to test this more in the coming weeks but at least I won't be having issues carrying interior, patch kits, pumps or extra tires =)
Stay tuned and keep you all updated on my test rides :)
*Test Ride - July 29, 2018 --> Normal ride around UP oval, i felt slow. Just as explained, most non-pneumatic tires will tend to slow you down from 1-2kph.. my normal average speed of 14kph now turned into 12kph. And be careful when banking at fast pace, the tires wiggle...
Ride safe everyone!
